me? i'd expect a refund of a downpayment/hold... particularly if there was no contract. it might even be "MA law" - check into it for free money. certainly that exists for lemons. perhaps for purchases.

typically, i've seen something along the lines that refunds are only guaranteed if the car fails to perform, pass tests, etc, but well, i dunno.

i would only expect non-refundable if there was a contract spelling that out.
