well, um, not to stir up a whole can of worms here, but who is to say that sexual preference *isn't* racism? Or at least a whole lot like it, in many ways...
Lets see here:
Property 1: Based on logic in any way? Sexual preferences: Nope. Racist preferences: Nope.
Property 2: Influenced by upbringing, societal programming, and other factors not under the individuals control? Sexual preferences: Pretty darned likely. Racist Preferences: Yep.
Property 3: Can be overcome by analytical thinking, therapy (talk,exposure, etc) Racist Preferences: It happens occasionally. Sexual preferences: Fat chance. (Hmm. could sexual preference be *worse* than racism?)
Just some food for thought here, don't jump to any deep conclusions.
