Yeah, come to think of it shelters seem to be an exception, I've seen others in wilderness areas there - there's a large designated campground area in the middle of the Pemi wilderness, for instance. But bridges seem to get replaced with more primitive crossings, like logs or boulders arranged in the stream. Arguably manmade, but semi-accidental-looking, I guess.
