Check your credit. Every four months.

AnnualCreditReport.com

This is the website through which the three agencies which are obligated to provide you with one free credit report per year do so.

I recommend staggering them so you are getting a free credit report once every four months. I also recommend spending the about $8 to get your FICA score, which is the part lending agencies care about.

To find this in the future: If you google search for "free credit report", the first hit is this website. The second hit is an ftc.gov page telling you to go to this website.

it's only free per year for MA residents iirc?

or if you've been denied credit/etc.

a good indicator of how healthy your credit is... how many credit applications you are mailed as junk mail. a dozen a week means very healthy.

No. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/freereports.shtm

You can make them stop sending you those credit card offers too.

I think you mean FICO, not FICA. The former is a credit score; the latter is a payroll tax.
