[toys] canon ultra compact with image stabilization
Canon SD700 IS: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canonsd700is/
ISO 800 and optical image stabilization good for 2-3 stops.
"Canon had finally pulled something a little bit special out of the hat."
I think the danger of me purchasing a non-Canon has been averted, although I would like to see Canon catch up to Fuji's "Class-leading high ISO performance".

Maybe after I pay off my second mortgage, I’ll start thinking about a second camera...

If you go to http://www.dpreview.com/ (which rocks), click Buying, then Features Search, then select Format: Ultra Compact, Image stabilization: Yes, and Sensor Photo Detectors: 6 million, it will show you some comparable cameras.
The best part of that site is their in-depth reviews.
Interesting, the SD700 IS is already cheaper (shipped, on pricegrabber.com) than what I paid for my SD450 in January. I do not need a new compact camera dammit :P
