IE9 is expected next year. The first table shows it beating the other four major browsers at compliance. It also shows how horrible the current release of IE is.

More exciting than the numbers, to me, is the test set Microsoft created for this.
One day maybe we really will be able to write one set of HTML pages for all browsers.
Update: I am now allowing access to my web site with the IE9 pre-release. It looks like nobody has tried it yet. (All other versions will ask the user if they want to save my web pages to a file due to massive standards non-compliance.)
